Farm Markets

If you’re anything like me, there isn’t much better than visiting your local farm market to get the freshest produce.  Below I have featured markets closest to me in Hunterdon County, NJ, as well as links to how you can find markets near you.

Local Harvest – is a resource for finding farmers markets, CSA (community supported agriculture) and organic food in your area.  Just put in your city or zip code, and see what options are around you!

Blue Moon Acres Farm – grows and sells organic microgreens, specialty lettuces, herbs, and baby produce to specialty stores, restaurants, and chefs throughout the Northeast. Blue Moon also runs farm markets in Buckingham, PA and Pennington, NJ, where they sell their own produce as well as produce and items from other local farms and businesses.  You can sign up for a membership (prepaid account) and get discounts on featured items each week.  The farm also features and hosts events.  Open year-round, the Pennington store is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  NEW!  Blue Moon Acres is also available at the Stockton Farm Market (below) during their regular hours.

Hunterdon Land Trust Farmers’ Market is a “producers only” market, featuring 19 vendors offering locally-grown vegetables, grass-fed beef, artisan breads, cheeses, honey, alpaca products, pies, wine, plants and more.  Become a Hunterdon Land Trust member and receive discounts from a featured vendor each week.  Open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (seasonal; check website for regular and winter schedule).

Stangl Factory Farmers’ Market (Flemington) – is an indoor, year-round farmers’ market featuring over 30 artisanal vendors.  Offers include locally-sourced vegetables, grass-fed meats, artisan breads and cheeses, brown eggs, specialty prepared foods and desserts.  The market also includes different crafts and home items.  Open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Stockton Farm Market – is an indoor, year-round market that features farm-fresh produce, savory breads and pastries, seafood, smokin’ good BBQ, a chocolatier, locally-grown lavender, artisanal jams, local meat (and lunch meat), dairy, regional honey, local ice cream and sorbet.  The market also features purveyors of coffee, crepes, fresh smoothies and other goodies.  Open Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. (limited vendors; check site for info), Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Frenchtown Farmer’s Market – features a broad range of produce and items, mostly locally-grown/produced.  The market is continuing to grow and add vendors.  Open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting June 2 until October 27.
